Spiti Winters 2026

Spiti in winter is a different mountain range altogether. The tourist season ends, the passes shut, and what's left is a valley of frozen rivers, snowbound monasteries, and roads that test every vehicle on them. This is the trip for people who want to see Spiti the way locals actually live through it, not the way it looks on a Summer road trip itinerary.

We've been running group expeditions into the Himalayas for over seven years, and winter Spiti remains one of the hardest, most rewarding routes we take travellers on. Temperatures drop well below zero after dark. Villages like Kaza and Kibber turn quiet and close in on themselves. Key Monastery sits under snow instead of sun. And if you're patient and lucky, this is also snow leopard territory, one of the few places in India where a sighting is genuinely possible.

This isn't a trip we dress up for the brochure. It's cold, it's slow in places, and it asks something of everyone who joins. That's exactly why the people who do it come back talking about it years later.
